This dataset is developed based on GLASS03B01 (MODIS BBE) and GLASS03B02 (AVHRR BBE) from the Global Land Surface Parameter Broadband Emissivity Products (GLASS BBE). By introducing the more detailed Harmonized World Soil Database version 2.0, hemispheric and seasonal characteristics, as well as global sampling point selection, we developed a novel framework for estimating AVHRR BBE based on GLASS MODIS BBE. Using GLASS03B02 (AVHRR BBE) as input data, we produced long-term (1982–2019) AVHRR global land surface broadband emissivity products. Compared with the original GLASS AVHRR emissivity product, the new emissivity product exhibits distinct seasonal variation and significantly eliminates the discrepancies between GLASS AVHRR and MODIS BBE during 2001–2019. Specifically, the discrepancies are reduced by 0.004 in summer and winter, by 0.002 in extremely arid and humid regions when aridity index (AI) < 1 or AI > 4, by 0.01 in high-altitude areas when DEM > 5000 m, and by 0.005 in some desert regions when albedo > 0.5. This dataset contains monthly global land surface broadband emissivity products derived from AVHRR during 1982–2019, which can be applied to land surface models and retrieval studies of land surface temperature, snow cover, atmospheric precipitation, water vapor and precipitable water. The data has a spatial resolution of 0.05° and is of floating-point data type.
