Thawed permafrost area 2030, by scenario

By 2030, about 4.8 million square kilometers of permafrost area is expected to be thawed under a 1.5 degree Celsius warming scenario. Permafrost refers to land frozen continuously for a minimum of two years and as many as hundreds of thousands of years that store large amounts of methane, a greenhouse gas that contributes to climate change.预计到2030年，在1.5摄氏度的全球变暖情景下，约480万平方公里的永久冻土区将出现融化。永久冻土，亦称长期冻结土地，指连续冻结至少两年，甚至长达数十万年的土地，其内部储存着大量甲烷，一种对气候变化产生显著贡献的温室气体。
