World picture survey 1936

The survey is an attempt to clarify the picture of the rest of the world supplied by the Swedish press at different points of time. While the daily press as media turns toward a mass auditorium and tries to meet the demands of this auditorium it is assumed that the idea of the world supplied by mass media to some extent corresponds with the auditorium´s idea of the world at different points of time. It was judged as appropriate to choose a sample of six periods each representing a calendar year. The register includes information about actor, issue, object for the activity mentioned, perspective on the object, arena of the activity and arena affected. Furthermore there are a number of more conventional classifications.
