This study establishes a research paradigm for quantifying the effects of ultrasonic neuromodulation across scales ranging from neuronal activity to animal behavior. By employing two-photon in vivo calcium imaging and mouse models of paroxysmal dyskinesia, the study found that low-intensity ultrasound exerts a direct excitatory effect on the neural activity of the cerebellar cortex, suggesting that transcranial ultrasound, as a novel non-invasive neuromodulation technology, has broad potential applications.
