Sinusoidal obstruction syndrome/veno-occlusive disease (SOS/VOD) remains a life-threatening complication after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. In this retrospective study, defibrotide treatment was associated with improved overall survival compared with recombinant thrombomodulin. These results suggest that defibrotide, combined with inflammation management strategies, may improve outcomes in high-risk SOS/VOD patients.
