VPRS 11251 Register of Employees

These volumes do not constitute a record series in the strict sense. Their date ranges overlap, among other things. They have all been retained however to ensure the preservation of as much consolidated information as possible about former employees of the Melbourne Harbor Trust Commissioners. PROS 96/13 General Disposal Schedule for Common Administrative Records has determined that Employment Registers have permanent value (ref 5.4.1).Some volumes are consolidated lists created at a particular point in time while others were created over a period of years. Researchers should be aware that too much reliance should not be placed on date ranges. Information recorded on a particular date can refer to employees who commenced duty several decades earlier.The registers include information such as the following:* name* branch or department* office or occupation* age* residential address* whether single or married* whether a returned soldier* date of appointment* particulars of service* wage and salary details* whether insured (permanent employee) or casual* references in Board Minutes* references in Internal Reports* references in General Correspondence* when resigned, retired or dismissed from serviceThe first volume includes an index to employees at the front of the book.
