Australian Cinema and Exhibition Collection

This is a collection of materials at the AFI Research Collection (AFIRC) relating to Australian cinemas and Australian film exhibition. The documentation of Australian cinemas and exhibition is seen as important to collect for the AFIRC as it offers insights into the health of the film industry in Australia in relation to how many films are being shown and the amount of people who are seeing them. The AFIRC holds over 150 specific items about Australian cinemas and film exhibition in Australia as well as over 500 items from the journal Australasian Cinema whose articles are predominantly about exhibition in Australia. The remaining items include clippings files, books, journals and journal articles.
