Food Flavourings

This dataset contains information for flavouring substances approved for use in food in the EU and their conditions of use. It is based on the Union list of approved flavourings and source materials laid down in Annex I to Regulation (EC) No 1334/2008
Context: Flavourings are products added to food in order to impart or modify odour and/or taste. EU legislation defines several types of flavourings:
- flavouring substances
- flavouring preparations
- thermal process flavourings
- smoke flavourings
- flavour precursors
- other flavourings
The EU Rules set out in Regulation (EC) No 1334/2008 on flavourings and certain food ingredients with flavouring properties for use in/on food ensure the effective functioning of the internal market whilst ensuring a high level of protection of human health and a high level of consumer protection.
