Snake River Basin Adjudication 1987 - Admin. Basin 22

The Snake River Basin Adjudication was an extensive administrative and legal process designed to sort out more than 170,00 individual claims for water rights for water from the Snake River and its many tributaries. The adjudication effort focused on one basin at a time, where each claimant of an irrigation right received a color aerial photograph complete with an outline of the department's recommendation for the place of use. The mailing included a request for notification of any changes desired by the claimant and an invitation to an explanatory public meeting. Color infrared aerial imagery from 1987 and 1988 were used in this process.
