Why the word "Pic-nic" is cursed
收藏资源简介:
Abstract Black women in the United States experience a unique convergence of racialized and gendered harm that results in disproportionate exposure to violence, health deterioration, economic instability, and institutional abandonment. This paper argues that the cumulative effects of these conditions meet criteria consistent with a threatened population when assessed through a functional lens drawn from conservation science and population health. Using empirical findings from health disparities research, labor economics, sociology, trauma psychology, and socio-technical systems scholarship, this work reframes marginalization not as individual failure or cultural pathology, but as a systems-level extraction–discard cycle requiring structural intervention.
