Meteorological Drought Indices (SPI) and Vegetation Indices (NDVI) for the Kombolcha District, Ethiopia (2005–2024)

This dataset provides processed meteorological and biophysical remote sensing data for the Kombolcha district, Ethiopia, to support research on drought vulnerability and vegetation health. Contents: Meteorological Data: Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) calculated at 3-month (seasonal) and 12-month (annual) timescales. Data were derived from CHIRPS v2.0 precipitation records (1981–2024) using the Climate Engine platform. Vegetation Data: Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) time-series data (2005–2024) derived from Landsat Surface Reflectance imagery processed via the Google Earth Engine (GEE) platform. Methodological Note: The analysis period for this dataset is constrained to 2005–2024 to ensure temporal alignment between climate data and vegetation indices, eliminating potential bias in correlation analysis.
