Identification of genes expressed by spinal cord neurons after axotomy and during axon regeneration. Rattus norvegicus

Abstract to follow Keywords: Regeneration, CNS, neuron, spinal, axon, SCI, axotomy Overall design: 7 regenerating (Reg), 7 non regenerating (NonReg) and 3 traced, not axotomised (NonAxot) samples of spinal neurons obtained by laser microdissection. 7 rats provided regenerating (Reg) and non-regenerating (NonReg) neurons, allowing within-animal comparison to identify regeneration-associated genes. 3 rats provided traced neurons (NonAxot), allowing between-animal comparison between traced and non-regenerating neurons to identify axotomy-related genes. Each sample, 1000 laser captured, retrogradely labeled spinal cord neurons.
