资源简介:

Cyclophosphamide (CP) is an oxazaphosphorine class of alkylating agent. An alkylating agent is a class of drugs that bind to anucleophilic substance of DNA of the cell and prevent its replication. Cyclophosphamide has been reported to be toxic to the liver and the kidneys.Based on the toxic effect of CP on liver and the kidneys, it is being employed to induce hepatotoxocity and nephrotoxicity respectively in experimental animals. This may be done to investigate usefulness of some medications in the treatment of injuries to the liver or the kidneys.Research HypothesisH₀: 150mg/kg of cyclophosphamide has no toxic effects on the liver and kidneys of Wistar rats after being administered intraperitoneally for maximum period of 7 days.H₁: 150mg/kg of cyclophosphamide has toxic effects on the liver and kidneys of Wistar rats after being administered intraperitoneally for maximum period of 7 days.It has been noted that in doing this as seen in some studies, different doses for different duration of CP administration as well as different routes of administration are being employed. There is however, the need to standardize the dose, duration and route of administration of CP that will give the eventual required degree of toxicity on these organs. This may also help to extrapolate to further explain the toxicity of CP on the liver and the kidneys in humans.
