Weed control, protein and forage yield of seven grass species in lucerne-grass associations

• Association of grass species with lucerne is a way to limit weed occurrence • Lucerne-grass associations give forage yield and quality, close to that of pure lucerne • Grass species differed for their direct and associated effects on the species of the association • Grass species with a small direct effect on grass production and a large positive associated effect on lucerne production favoured high forage and protein production
