Atmospheric Blocking Detection over the Southern Hemisphere (ERA5-based) This annual catalog provides a comprehensive identification of atmospheric blocking events over the Southern Hemisphere (from 15°S to 90°S), based on ERA5 reanalysis data. The detection is performed on a 1° × 1° spatial grid with a 6-hourly temporal resolution. Each data point is binary: 1 indicates the presence of a blocking event, and 0 indicates its absence. Blocking events are identified using the method described in Davini & D'Andrea (2020), "From CMIP3 to CMIP6: Northern Hemisphere Atmospheric Blocking Simulation in Present and Future Climate", Journal of Climate, Vol. 33, Issue 23, pp. 10121–10144.
