SARS-CoV-2 Co-Infection Case of Beta and Delta Variants of Concern in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea

As part of the national COVID-19 response, the government of Equatorial Guinea in collaboration with the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute implemented a genomic surveillance program to analyse positive samples by spike gene mutation-specific RT-qPCR assays and/or by whole genome sequencing. One sample collected during routine surveillance of SARS-CoV-2 in Equatorial Guinea was found to contain a co-infection of Beta and Delta variants of concern.
