Idaho's 2022 Integrated Report

Welcome to Idaho's 2022 Integrated Report StoryMap. The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) developed this interactive StoryMap to provide information on the quality of the state's surface waters. While the content found in the StoryMap is lighter than that found in the 2022 Integrated Report document (PDF), DEQ hopes this format will increase transparency and public understanding regarding the current conditions of Idaho's surface waters and the DEQ programs in place to protect them. The federal Clean Water Act (CWA) requires each state to report on the quality of its surface waters and to identify and prioritize those waters that are impaired and need a total maximum daily load (TMDL). As the state agency responsible for implementing the CWA in Idaho, DEQ fulfills these reporting requirements by preparing the biennial Integrated Report. The 2022 Integrated Report was developed in accordance with § 305(b), § 314, and § 303(d) of the CWA, and incorporates DEQ data and other readily available data collected between January 1, 2018 – December 31, 2021. This StoryMap provides background information on the state's water resources, including DEQ’s water pollution control program and special concerns affecting water quality; an overview of DEQ’s surface water monitoring and assessment program, including assessment results for all state surface waters; and a summary of public participation in the development of the Integrated Report.
