This dataset originates from a study on the relationship between AI-assisted training and sport performance among university student-athletes. The research focuses on two <b>chain mediation pathways</b>—(1) Technical Skill → Tactical Cognition → Sport Confidence, and (2) Sport Self-Efficacy → Physical Fitness → Sport Focus—while also examining the moderating role of <b>psychological adaptability</b>.The survey includes nine latent constructs: AI-assisted training, technical skill level, tactical cognition, sport confidence, sport self-efficacy, physical fitness, sport focus, psychological adaptability, and sport performance. All measurement scales were adapted from validated instruments and assessed using a 7-point Likert scale.

A dataset of changes in exercise performance and antioxidant enzyme activity after astaxanthin supplementation in team sports athletes
16 participants were randomly divided into either a placebo group (PLA group, n=8) and an astaxanthin group (AST group, n=8). Prior to the nutritional intervention, both the PLA group and the astaxanthin group completed the Wingate anaerobic power test first, and after an interval of 24 hours, followed by an incremental exercise test, 5 ml of fasting venous blood samples were collected on the morning of the incremental exercise test and the following morning. The participants took their assigned capsules in a double-blind manner to eliminate any potential subjective bias. The nutritional intervention lasted 4 weeks, after which the participants repeated the Wingate anaerobic power test and incremental exercise test and had their blood drawn at the same time point. After the collected venous blood was settled at 4°C for 1-2 hours, the serum was separated, centrifuged at 3000 rpm for 10 minutes, and then stored in a refrigerator at -20°C. The activity of Superoxide dismutase (SOD), Catalase (CAT) and Glutathione peroxidase (GPX) was determined by the colorimetric method (BioTek Synergy H1, USA). All measurements were carried out in strict accordance with the kit instructions. 1-PLA, 2-AST in first four sheets,and 1-basketball, 2-soccer in last sheet.

Biomechanical Effects of Stroboscopic Vision during Crosscut Maneuvers in Elite Football Players
This dataset contains raw and processed biomechanical and electromyographic data collected from twenty elite male football players during standardized crosscut maneuvers under two visual conditions: full vision (FV) and stroboscopic vision (SV). The dataset includes:Three-dimensional kinematic data (joint angles, segmental positions) of the support limb during cutting maneuvers, captured using a marker-based motion capture system;Ground reaction forces (GRFs) in vertical, anteroposterior, and mediolateral directions recorded via force platforms;Surface electromyography (sEMG) signals from key lower-limb muscles (gluteus maximus, rectus femoris, semitendinosus, etc.), including raw signals and normalized pre-activation RMS values;Trial-level metadata indicating condition (FV or SV), task type (dribbling vs. non-dribbling), and participant identifiers;Derived variables used in statistical analysis, including braking velocity, joint angles at initial contact, and muscle activation indices.All data are synchronized and time-normalized relative to initial contact (IC). The dataset supports reproducibility in studies on visual perturbation, perceptual-motor control, and neuromechanical adaptations in sport-specific agility tasks.

Effects of exercise on cations/anions in blood serum of English Thoroughbred horses
ABSTRACT English Thoroughbred horses, are widespread in Mexico and due to the lack of data on their exercise physiology, it is important to conduct exercise tests in order to obtain information the effects of exercise on more essential cations/anions in blood serum, as these horses are submitted to constant efforts. The study was carried out with 150 blood samples of English Thoroughbred horses clinically healthy. The blood sample collection was performed during three periods: 1) rest, 2) 30min after exercise (speed race of 12km/h for 30min with no rest) and 3) 60min after exercise. Mean values were calculated for cations (sodium and potassium) and anions (chloride and bicarbonate). The resulting data set was analyzed using Gaussian distribution and descriptive statistics. Confidence intervals of 95% were established. The linear relationships between ions were quantified, and an analysis of variance was performed to compare the mean values between groups. The concentrations of the described analytes are consistent with values reported by international literature. The comparison between groups, revealed that during exercise, sodium ion did not show changes 30min after exercise and increase 60min after. Potassium ion showed increase 30min after exercise and decrease 60min after. Chloride ion showed a decrease 30min after exercise, to recover gradually 60min after. Meanwhile, bicarbonate ion showed increase 30min after exercise, decreasing slightly in the final stage. Negative correlation between bicarbonate ion and chloride ion were determined. It was concluded that exercise tests are useful for the determination of acid-base balance and osmotic balance, and their main role is to evaluate the athletic ability of horses.Considering that chloride ion excretion and metabolic adjustments of potassium ion and bicarbonate ion are superior to water loss, compared to the normal osmolarity of blood serum. The results found can be used to structure an adequate replacement program of electrolytes lost in sweat.

The promise of growth hormone in sport: doped or duped
ABSTRACT Skeletal muscle is a target tissue of GH. Based on its anabolic properties, it is widely accepted that GH enhances muscle performance in sports. Athletic performance depends on muscle strength and the energy required to power muscle function. The energy required to power muscle function is derived from a continuum of anaerobic and aerobic sources. Molecular and functional studies provide evidence that in muscle GH stimulates the anaerobic and suppresses the aerobic energy system, in turn affecting power-based functional measures in a time-dependent manner. In recreational athletes, GH improves anaerobic capacity but has not been proven to significantly enhance muscle strength, power, or maximum rate of oxygen consumption. GH appears likely to selectively benefit sprint events and not physical performance that depends on strength and endurance. Arch Endocrinol Metab. 2019;63(6):576-81

Data from: Physiological tremor reveals how thixotropy adapts skeletal muscle for posture and movement
People and animals can move freely, but they must also be able to stay still. How do skeletal muscles economically produce both movement and posture? Humans are well known to have motor units with relatively homogeneous mechanical properties. Thixotropic muscle properties can provide a solution by providing a temporary stiffening of all skeletal muscles in postural conditions. This stiffening is alleviated almost instantly when muscles start to move. In this paper, we probe this behaviour. We monitor both the neural input to a muscle, measured here as extensor muscle electromyography (EMG), and its output, measured as tremor (finger acceleration). Both signals were analysed continuously as the subject made smooth transitions between posture and movement. The results showed that there were marked changes in tremor which systematically increased in size and decreased in frequency as the subject moved faster. By contrast, the EMG changed little and reflected muscle force requirement rather than movement speed. The altered tremor reflects naturally occurring thixotropic changes in muscle behaviour. Our results suggest that physiological tremor provides useful and hitherto unrecognized insights into skeletal muscle's role in posture and movement.

Investigating cardiolocomotor synchronization during running in trained and untrained males
Introduction This study aims at investigating the coupling of the cardiac and locomotor systems during running in trained and untrained males. Methods Sixteen healthy young males subjects were submitted to an anthropometric evaluation, followed by a treadmill test at 70% to 75% of heart rate reserve. Based on the average velocity, they were divided into two groups of eight, trained group (TG) and untrained group (UT). The electrocardiogram and the electromyogram of the vastus lateralis muscle of the right thigh were digitized at a sampling rate of 1000 Hz, and processed off-line. Each cardiac and electromyographic cycle was detected to further investigate the coupling between cardiac and running rates in time domain, using the cross-correlation, and in the frequency domain, using a phase synchronization measure based on the Hilbert transform. A Shannon entropy index and magnitude squared coherence were also applied to improve analysis. Results Both groups presented low cross-correlation (0.18 ± 0.07 TG and 0.15 ± 0.08 UG) values between these signals, and only four from 16 subjects presented short epochs of phase synchronization (4.1 ± 8.6% TG and 3.2±7.3% UG) between signals, occurring at a low frequency band and random phase differences. The low to moderate coherence (0.67 ± 0.16 TG and 0.64 ± 0.16 UG) observed at 0.1 Hz appears to be an effect of the simultaneous action of sympathetic system over both cardiac and muscular rhythms. Conclusion The combined results suggest that the chosen exercise protocol was not able to cause cardiolocomotor synchronization.

TAEKWONDO ATHLETES HAVE BETTER POSTURAL CONTROL THAN HANDBALL AND AMERICAN FOOTBALL ATHLETES
ABSTRACT Introduction: Postural control is an important prerequisite for an athlete’s performance in sport. In addition, the postural control system contributes to injury prevention. Deficits in this system can lead to body instability and overload of musculoskeletal structures generating dysfunction and pain. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate postural control in three different sports modalities: taekwondo, handball, and American football. Methods: All athletes performed a one-legged stance/balance test on a force platform in the right and left lower limbs. Three tests of thirty seconds each were performed with eyes open. The mean of the three tests was used to measure the parameters of postural control, pressure center and velocity of anteroposterior and mediolateral displacements. Results: Significant differences were observed among the three groups in all analyzed parameters (P=<0.04). Post-hoc analysis revealed that taekwondo athletes had better postural control (P=<0.035) of lower limbs compared to the other two modalities. There were no significant differences between handball and American football. Conclusion: Taekwondo athletes have better postural control during the one-legged stance/balance test than handball and American football athletes.
