Most data displayed on this tracker use North Carolina’s one hundred counties as the geographic resolution. Counties are grouped and summarized using four cross-cutting categories: (1) regional prosperity zones from the North Carolina Department of Commerce, (2) central/outlying counties from the Census Bureau OMB's 2020 designations, (3) prior unemployment rates using 2019 unemployment data from the BLS Local Area Unemployment Statistics (LAUS), and (4) prior median income levels using ACS 2014-2018 5-year estimates.
