To effectively monitor the cadmium content in commercially sold carrots and prevent excessive heavy metal contamination, our testing institution conducted sampling inspections on carrots sold within the jurisdiction of Taishun County in accordance with the requirements of the Food Safety Law. The cadmium content in the samples was determined using the method specified in the national standard GB 5009.15-2014 National Food Safety Standard: Determination of Cadmium in Foods. By comparing the test data with GB 2762-2017 National Food Safety Standard: Maximum Levels of Contaminants in Foods, we can determine whether the samples meet the standard requirements. This data is closely related to consumer food safety and is of undeniable importance. The carrots sold within the jurisdiction of Taishun County were tested according to GB 5009.15-2014 National Food Safety Standard: Determination of Cadmium in Foods, and the content of the test item was calculated using the following formula: X = (C - C0) × V × n / m / 1000 Where: X: Content of the analyte in the test sample, unit: milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg); C: Mass concentration of the analyte in the test sample solution, unit: micrograms per liter (μg/L); C0: Mass concentration of the analyte in the blank test sample solution, unit: micrograms per liter (μg/L); V: Final constant volume of the test sample solution, unit: milliliters (mL); m: Mass of the weighed test sample, unit: grams (g); n: Dilution factor; 1000: Conversion factor for unit conversion, which is used to obtain the final content data of the test item. By comparing the above test data with the requirements of GB 2762-2017 National Food Safety Standard: Maximum Levels of Contaminants in Foods, samples with cadmium content within the specified limit are qualified, while those exceeding the limit are unqualified.
