Impact of sand extraction on sediment prokaryote communities

In this study we assessed the impact of sand extraction on sediment prokaryotic communities in the Belgian North Sea. We performed shotgun metagenomic sequencing of 1 cm depth slices of sediment cores from sampling stations in either a sand extraction zone or a unimpacted reference zone.
