Parkes observations for project P1102 semester 2026APRS_15
收藏资源简介:
We request a triggered, high-cadence observation campaign to fully capture abrupt radiative and timing changes in the pulsed radio emission of a sample of four actively monitored magnetars. Magnetars are excellent laboratories for exploring the response of a neutron star magnetosphere to sudden, often times cataclysmic, changes in magnetic structure. Catching a radio-loud magnetar during the early stages of a sudden change in radiative behaviour, whether switching on after an outburst or displaying signs of a rapidly varying magnetic topology, is key to understanding both the short- and long-term evolution of their ultra-strong magnetic fields. The excellent sensitivity of the Ultra-Wideband Low (UWL) receiver system provides us with the means to capture high-quality, phase resolved polarisation spectra of these objects.
