Known for its versatile metabolism and capabilities in degrading organic pollutants, <i>Pseudomonas putida</i> KT2440 is emerging as a suitable microbial chassis for both metabolic engineering and environmental remediation applications. To understand the physiological and metabolic capabilities of a microorganism, the contemporary approach posits a look into its annotated genome. In particular, the types of genes present as well as their sequence constitute the basic information upon which metabolic pathways are discerned as well as genome scale metabolic network are constructed. To this end, the annotated genome sequence of <i>P. putida</i> KT2440 (Genbank accession number: NCBI Reference Sequence: NC_002947.4) was read by an in-house MATLAB software to enable the construction of a gene database comprising all annotated genes in the genome of the organism. Together with gene identifier, descriptor of the gene as well as its gene sequence were also curated in the gene database. The resource should be useful for researchers interested in the basic biology of <i>P. putida</i> KT2440 as well as metabolic engineers seeking to construct better biotechnology strains using the base strain as engineering chassis.<br><br>
恶臭假单胞菌(*Pseudomonas putida*)KT2440 凭借其多样的代谢特性与有机污染物降解能力,正逐渐成为代谢工程与环境修复领域的理想微生物底盘。解析微生物的生理与代谢特性,当前主流研究思路均以其注释基因组为切入点。具体而言,基因组中基因的类型与序列信息,是解析代谢途径、构建基因组规模代谢网络的核心基础数据。
为此,研究团队通过自研MATLAB软件读取了恶臭假单胞菌KT2440的注释基因组序列(GenBank收录号:NCBI参考序列NC_002947.4),构建了包含该菌株基因组内所有注释基因的基因数据库。该数据库同时整理收录了基因标识符、基因功能注释信息与基因序列。本数据集可供两类研究人员使用:一是致力于恶臭假单胞菌KT2440基础生物学研究的科研人员,二是希望以该菌株作为工程底盘开发更优异生物技术菌株的代谢工程研究者。
