Global in-situ suspended sediment concentration dataset

This dataset contains in-situ suspended sediment concentration (SSC) measurements compiled from major global sources and harmonized into a single database. The dataset includes 100,942 SSC records from river monitoring sites worldwide, each with associated site ID, sampling date and time, units, SSC value, database source, and site coordinates. These SSC data were used in the publication "Towards Large-Scale Estimation of Riverine Suspended Sediment Flux Using Deep Learning, Devkota et al. (2025), currently under review" to compute suspended sediment flux (SSF). The flux values are not included in this dataset; instead, this release provides the original SSC records that underpin the SSF calculations presented in the paper. The dataset is intended to support global river sediment research, model development, and large-scale assessments of suspended sediment transport.
