HiLoad 16/60 Superdex gel-filtration column was calibrated by using the two gel Filtration Calibration kits from GE Healthcare, one containing proteins with molecular weigh in the range of 44,000 - 669,000 Da and the other with proteins between 6,500 and 75,000 Da plus Blue Dextran (MW = 2,000 Da) in both kits.The calculation of Kav (elution volume parameter) for each of the calibration standards allow the determination of the molecular weight of an unknown protein by taking in account its elution volume.
