Arthur Hilton (East Yorks) was my grandfather, killed in action 3rd May 1915. He left a widow, Hilda Hilton, daughter Hilda aged 7 (my mother) and a son Leslie aged 3. Arthur Hilton is listed on the roll of honour in Beverley Minster and his name appears on the Menin Gate. Editor's Comment: Photograph of Arthur Hilton when a corporal, in full dress, with Hilda. From the effects of Serjeant 1062 Arthur Hilton, 1st/4th Bn. East Yorkshire Regiment, killed in action 3rd May 1915, aged 31. The husband of Hilda G. Brown (formerly Hilton), of 17, William St., Porter St., Hull, he is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial.
