Mountain lions (also called pumas, cougars, panthers, and catamounts) are widely distributed across the western hemisphere where they have adapted to a variety of habitat types and play an important ecological role as a top predator. Mountain lions have large home ranges and are capable of long distance dispersal, and as such, they are strongly impacted by habitat fragmentation.. These data have been produced as part of the CCGP. Sequencing was conducted with HiFi Pacific Biosciences long reads at UCDavis Genome Core, Dovetail's OmniC libraries, and Illumina sequencing at UCBerkeley QB3 Genomics Core.
