The project is an adaptive laboratory evolution experiment with four populations of the Brazilian bioethanol yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae PE-2_H4. The four populations were subjected to 68-82 cycles of 2-hours ethanol shocks (from 19% up to 30% v/v) and outgrowths. Genome sequencing was applied to decipher the evolutionary mutational landscape. This is an important study aiming at understanding the genetic basis of yeast adaptation to ethanol shocks.
