This work applies histopathological techniques for the validation study of the cochlea-electrode interaction model. Tissue sectioning is a standard method for fine morphological observation of the inner ear. During the preparation of paraffin sections, challenges including low paraffin density, insufficient filling capacity, and high sectioning difficulty are commonly faced; nonetheless, paraffin sectioning remains widely utilized in current scientific research experiments. For specimens obtained from miniature pigs after cochlear electrode implantation, they were fixed in 4% paraformaldehyde for 24 to 48 hours, decalcified with formic acid for 5 to 7 days, dehydrated for another 5 to 7 days, and subsequently underwent staining, sectioning, and electron microscopy scanning, among other processing steps. To standardize the evaluation of the induced trauma severity, the grading scheme recently published by Eshraghi et al. was employed. Cochleae extracted from miniature pigs following electrode implantation were prepared into pathological sections for histopathological observation. The total size of this dataset is 11.35 GB.
