DAMPC: Dual Activity Microbial Peptides Catalog

Antibiotic resistance and cancer are major global health challenges. Peptides, especially antimicrobial peptides (AMPs), have emerged as promising alternatives to conventional drugs, and some also exhibit anticancer peptide (ACP) activity. To identify such dual-activity peptides, we applied a consensus-based approach combining three ACP and two AMP prediction tools to screen 124 million microbial peptides from public small open reading frame (smORF) catalogs. We identified 40,251 non-toxic candidates and compiled them into the Dual Activity Microbial Peptides Catalog (DAMPC), a curated resource of non-toxic microbial peptides with both antimicrobial and anticancer potential.
