The elevation model of Austria by geoland.at with 10 m spatial resolution is now also freely available as a WMTS service via the Internet. For an easy and fast download for your project area ("bounding box"), ArcGIS 10.x and Q-GIS 3.x have ready-made Python libraries. The total download of the entire elevation model of Austria is no longer necessary.
