Impact of selenium supplement on rainbow trout intestinal microbiome

Fish raised in aquaculture are at a higher risk of exhibiting stress responses. The antioxidant, selenium, was introduced to fish via a feed top-coated with a yeast genetically modified to overproduce the biologically available form of selenium, selenoneine. As a good indicator for host health, the internal and external microbiomes of rainbow trout fed the experimental diets containing selenoneine were sequenced.
