It has long dedicated itself to the production and trade of high-quality table sugar. From the 41st to the 53rd year of the Republic of China, the export value of sugar consistently ranked first among all export commodities, making outstanding contributions to the development of national society and rural economy. Later, affected by declining international sugar prices and drastic changes in Taiwan's industrial structure brought about by industrialization and economic liberalization, the proportion of the domestic sugar industry in the overall economy relatively decreased after the full liberalization of sugar imports in the 94th year of the Republic of China. Nevertheless, the sugar industry still remains crucial to the national economy and people's livelihood. Taiwan Sugar Corporation owns large tracts of land and rich experience in agricultural planting and processing. It possesses core technologies and niche advantages in the sugar industry, pig farming and flower cultivation, with its business footprint expanding to the United States, Canada, Europe, Southeast Asia and other regions.
