中国区域延长时间序列的类NPP-VIIRS人工夜间灯光数据集(1986-2024)

人工夜间灯光(NTL)遥感是量化人类活动强度和空间分布的重要指标。尽管NPP-VIIRS传感器提供了高质量的夜间灯光观测数据,但其始于2012年的时间覆盖范围限制了延伸至更早时期的长期时间序列研究。在扩展类VIIRS夜间灯光时间序列方面虽已取得进展,但现有方法仍存在两个显著缺陷:灯光强度低估和结构细节缺失。为克服这些局限性,我们为中国开发了扩展的类VIIRS人工夜间灯光(EVAL)产品,将标准数据记录向前追溯至1986年。定量评估表明,EVAL的表现显著优于现有产品,将决定系数从0.68提升至0.80,同时将均方根误差(RMSE)从1.27降低至0.99。此外,EVAL表现出优异的时间一致性,并与社会经济指数保持高度相关,从而证实了其在长期分析中的可靠性。
Artificial Nighttime Light (NTL) remote sensing serves as a critical indicator for quantifying the intensity and spatial distribution of human activities. Although the NPP-VIIRS sensor provides high-quality nighttime light observation data, its temporal coverage starting from 2012 limits long-term time series studies extending to earlier periods. While progress has been made in extending VIIRS-like nighttime light time series, existing methods still suffer from two notable drawbacks: underestimation of light intensity and loss of structural details. To overcome these limitations, we developed an Extended VIIRS-like Artificial Nighttime Light (EVAL) product for China, which extends the standard data record back to 1986. Quantitative evaluations demonstrate that the performance of EVAL significantly outperforms existing products: the coefficient of determination is improved from 0.68 to 0.80, while the Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) is reduced from 1.27 to 0.99. Furthermore, EVAL exhibits excellent temporal consistency and maintains a high correlation with socioeconomic indices, confirming its reliability for long-term analysis.
