Rapid Developing Convection (RDC) refers to rapidly developing convective elements within individual convective cloud clusters or mature mesoscale convective systems. It is characterized by short development duration and high cloud-top cooling rate. RDC represents the convectively active portions of convective cloud clusters, covering both nascent convection and mature mesoscale convective systems. The satellite-derived RDC cloud products have a temporal resolution of 10 minutes and a spatial resolution of 2 km.
