The Parkinson's Progression Markers Initiative (PPMI) is an international longitudinal research database dedicated to discovering and validating biomarkers for Parkinson's disease. Launched by institutions including the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, the initiative has recruited thousands of participants including patients, at-risk individuals, and healthy controls across nearly 50 clinical centers worldwide since its launch in 2010. Its open-access dataset contains multimodal information such as clinical assessments, imaging data and biological samples, and is primarily used to accelerate research on Parkinson's disease diagnosis, progression monitoring and therapeutic development.
