Origin of LA-MRSA CC398 bloodstream infections and skin and soft tissue infections, Denmark. CC398 bloodstream infections in DK

We investigated the clinical epidemiology of LA-MRSA CC398 bloodstream infections (BSIs) and skin and soft tissue infections (SSTIs) in Denmark during 2010-2015. The corresponding isolates were compared with LA-MRSA CC398 isolates from Danish pigs. The analysis showed that Danish pigs and cases BSI and SSTI share a common pool of LA-MRSA CC398 isolates, supporting that pigs are a major source of human LA-MRSA CC398 infections in Denmark.
