Attitudes for Peace: Post-Conflict Public Opinion

What do people think about the measures and the political institutions that are meant to create peace in countries affected by civil war? The research project 'Attitudes for peace: Post-conflict public opinion' addresses this question with the help of national surveys in three countries where the citizens have experienced civil war: Guatemala, Nepal and Northern Ireland. The purpose of the project was to investigate ordinary people's views on arrangements such as political division of power, inclusion, legal processes and amnesty. The data collection took place as interview-based questionnaire surveys in the selected countries. The questionnaire also contained questions about socio-demographic background, social and political trust and evaluation of and experiences with the peace process and the peace agreement.
