Data on Profit Attribution of Hybrid Bond Issuers and Their Parent Companies as at March 2023

This dataset comprises a global list of publicly-listed issuers of hybrid bonds classified as equity (hybrids) and parent companies in non-financial sectors, and their treatment of profit attributable to hybrids (hybrids’ profit) when computing profit attributable to owners (owners’ profit) presented in income statements and profit attributable to ordinary shareholders used as the numerator of earnings per share (EPS). Hybrids issuers and parent companies are identified based on Bloomberg’s list of outstanding corporate non-convertible perpetual bonds as at 1st February 2023, and the audited financial statements of each company, available as at March 2023, are referenced to determine whether they have excluded profit attributable to hybrids held by non-controlling interests from owners’ profit and hybrids’ profit from EPS, in accordance with the requirements of the International Financial Reporting Standards.
