Aimed to examine the spatial distribution of archaeal community and the effect of organic matters on it in sediments, 11 sampling sites around the Lake Taihu were set, including 6 sites in the phytoplankton-dominated lake zone and 5 sites in the macrophytes-dominated lake zone, and the archaeal community were investigated by using the next-generation sequencing method of Illumina.
