Darkling Beetles of Hawai'i (Tenebrionidae) II

Tenebrionidae, the darkling beetle family, can be found all over the world. Encompassing over 20,000 species, it is one of the largest beetle families. This family has been known to thrive in numerous contrasting environments, from the Namib desert to our island paradise, the Hawaiian Islands. Although most species in Hawai'i are adventive, or have arrived from a different locality, a couple endemic species do exist in the University of Hawai'i Insect Museum's collection: Pseudocistela subenescens (Perkins, 1900) & Pseudocistela kauaiensis (Perkins, 1900).
