Composition of the protist community in the hindgut of Coptotermes gestroi and Coptotermes formosanus. Coptotermes gestroi and Coptotermes formosanus protist communities

We investigated the microbial eukaryotic hindgut community of Coptotermes gestroi and Coptotermes formosanus using single cell isolation, high throughput amplicon sequencing, and microscopy. We found that C. gestroi has three different Cononympha species and two Holomastigotoides species, while C. formosanus has two Cononympha species in addition to the two known Holomastigotoides species.
