Genomics of Macrococcus caseolyticus

The Staphylococcus genus contains several important human and veterinary pathogens as well as a large number of rarely-pathogenic species. Macrococcus are a closely related species that are a potential reservoir of antimicrobial resistance genes, for staphylococci. This project is using whole-genome sequencing of Macrococcus caseolyticus from farms in the UK, for better understanding of their antimicrobial resistance genes, mobile genetic elements and molecular epidemiology.
