Hydrogeochemical Analysis of Water and Sediment from the Romanian Danube (March - April, 2023) – PN 23 30 03 03, National Project

The dataset comprises hydrogeochemical data from the Romanian sector of the Danube River. The data were collected aboard the R/V ISTROS during a research cruise conducted between March 20 and April 7, 2023. This campaign was undertaken within the national research project “Optimizing the sustainable management of natural resources, enhancing water security, and increasing the resilience of ecosystems in the Lower Danube Basin, impacted by climate change and anthropogenic interventions” (PN 23 30 03 03). One hundred and two sampling stations were established along the river, spanning from Mila 54 to river kilometre 435. Additionally, 81 sediment samples were collected from corresponding sectors using a Van Veen grab sampler. This comprehensive dataset is intended to support the assessment of sediment and surface water quality and to facilitate ecological evaluations in accordance with national and international standards.
