Queensland Plant Pathology Herbarium (BRIP)

Established in 1901, the Queensland Plant Pathology Herbarium has specimens that represent many known Australian plant-pathogenic microfungi. The collection includes: • a live and permanently preserved culture collection of microfungi; and • a non-living collection of herbarium specimens of obligate plant pathogenic fungi. The herbarium and culture collection plays a role in biosecurity, agricultural research, and biodiscovery by: • accelerating the classification of new microfungi • providing taxonomic support for agriculture and biotechnology. BRIP has incorporated parts of the fungi collections from the former University of Queensland Herbarium (BRIU) and the F.M. Bailey collection from the Queensland Herbarium (BRI).
