Data set for "Optimization of energetic and reproductive gains explains behavioural responses to environmental variation across seasons and years" in Ecology Letters (Manuscript number: ELE-01228-2019.R1). Includes individual red squirrel activity values across 4 years from a free ranging population collected with accelerometers. Data is summarized at the level of time of day and includes associated daily abiotic and biotic measures of the environment used in the study. Methodological details of data collection and modelling of the environment can be found in the published study.
