Transcriptomic datasets of 101 angiosperm species that were sequenced in this study. To obtain these transcriptomes, flower buds and/or young leaves were collected and immediately frozen in liquid nitrogen for subsequent processing. RNA isolation, cDNA synthesis, library preparation, high-throughput sequencing, and <i>de novo</i> assembly were performed as previously described (Xiang et al., 2017).The sequence data and scripts utilized for dating angiosperms in this study can be found at: https://doi.org/10.6084/m9.figshare.24962283.v1
