Substance Use and Periodontitis: A Study of Marijuana, Hashish, and Cocaine: Insights from the NHANES Data
收藏资源简介:
This study utilized data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) for the years 2011-2012 and 2013-2014. I analyzed a range of demographic, socioeconomic, and behavioral covariates, employing statistical analysis through SPSS to determine significant associations. The results indicate a statistically significant relationship between the use of marijuana, hashish, and cocaine with periodontitis severity. Specifically, marijuana or hashish users showed a 4.276 times higher likelihood of experiencing periodontitis, and cocaine users predominantly exhibited mild periodontitis. Additionally, higher alcohol consumption was associated with increased odds of periodontitis. These findings underscore the need for heightened awareness and potential interventions for substance users in dental health contexts.Given the growing public health concern surrounding substance use and its broader health implications, this study provides critical insights into its specific impact on periodontal health. I believe that the findings will be of great interest to the readers and contribute significantly to the existing body of knowledge
