If the ratio of demand change is greater than that of price change, the demand is deemed price elastic, meaning customers are highly sensitive to price fluctuations: the greater the elasticity, the more sensitive demand is to price changes, and enterprises can appropriately lower prices to achieve higher revenue. Conversely, if demand is price inelastic, enterprises can appropriately raise prices to gain more revenue. This dataset holds significant reference value for the marketing decision-making of peer enterprises. 1. Data Collection: Collect demand and price data of polycarbonate lenses in the Guangdong region, organize and summarize the data using the theories of demand elasticity and supply elasticity to obtain the demand change value and price change value of the product. 2. Algorithmic Rules: Calculate the collected data with the following formula to obtain the demand elasticity coefficient Ed: Ed = -(ΔQ/Q) ÷ (ΔP/P) In the formula: Q represents the demand quantity of the product, with the unit of piece; P represents the price of the product, with the unit of yuan; ΔQ represents the year-on-year change in demand quantity; ΔP represents the year-on-year change in product price. The absolute value |Ed| of the demand elasticity coefficient is taken as the reference coefficient for data analysis. 3. Data Analysis: Analyze the price elasticity of demand for the product based on the value of |Ed|: (1) |Ed|=1 (Unitary Price Elasticity of Demand): The magnitude of change in demand is consistent with that of price change; (2) 1<|Ed| (Price Elastic Demand): The magnitude of change in demand is greater than that of price change; (3) |Ed|<1 (Price Inelastic Demand): The magnitude of change in demand is less than that of price change.
