PPR co-expressed intron splicing 1 (PCIS1) gene is co-expressed with many Pentatricopeptide genes in Arabidopsis thaliana. Knockout lines of PCIS1 showed embryo lethality. Expression of PCIS1 under ABI3 promoter, which induces expression at the embryo stage rescued the plant growth. RNA processing of the rescued plants was analyzed by RNAseq and compared to wild-type Col-0.
